WalMart Sepcial… the Kershaw Blur
Kershaw Blur. Street $59 Made in USA.
The Kershaw Blur is probably the best blade that you can pick up at any WalMart. It’s also an auto assist open knife, which means a quick flip of your thumb makes the blade fly and lock open. The blade is firmly held in place when closed. There is no safety, the blade takes slightly more effort to open than say a SOG, they probably figure making the knife harder to flip open means they can do away with the safety. Kershaw calls this the “Speedsafe” action in that there is a bias for the blade to stay closed as well.
This knife is heavier than say a SOG Flash I or II, but it feels nice in the hand. The handle is aluminum and includes what is a skateboard grip tape like anti slip insets that work very well, Kershaw calls these “Trac-Tec inserts”.
The clip is also reversible to allow tip up or tip down carry.

The Tanto blade is huge and a great self defense blade (never bring a knife to a gun fight, I’m talking more like stray animals and the like..). The knife also makes a great utility knife. The partial Serrated and black coated tanto also happens to be the only model that WalMart carries.. haha
A higher grade steel would have been great, but they do sell an S30V version for $89 (street). All in all, a decent knife for the price… and (the version above) is available at your local WalMart.
