Casio G011D-1A Metal Digi-Ani G-Shock watch. ~ $150 street. I’m getting my contemporary collection of Casio’s going again with the new for 2007 Casio G011 metal G-shock. Some cool things about this watch is this particular model / color combo is it comes with a black face AND black dials. While this makes the dials harder to read in low light it also does a somewhat excellent job of concealing the fact that there are 2 digital dials on the watch face. Casio has done a great job of putting all the functionality of a well featured digital watch all on those 2 little dials. Display for time, Day-date, day, stopwatch, countdown timer, 5 alarms, etc.. are all easily accessible and operated through only those 2 little LCD dials. Perhaps the only beef with the operation of the watch is the analog watch hand (the minute hand in particular) sweeps into the LCD dial areas at times, meaning you having to look around it if you are using a stopwatch function, etc. But it’s not that bad, and having the analog hands adds a nice touch to the timepiece. The watch itself is beefy and stainless steel with the exception of a gray high impact plastic structure that goes through the center / sides of the watch case. This is a G-shock, so you get something that can take some abuse, although you probably don’t want to scratch it up 🙂 Despite it’s beef its one of the most comfortable watches I have ever worn.
