First off I love Casio watches. SPECIALLY the geek / tech watches like the calculator and multi sensor watches. I’ve owned a ton of Casio’s over the years and always wanted a triple sensor watch that had “everything”.
Triple sensor means a watch that can be a: Watch, Compass, Barometer, Altimeter and Temperature gauge. BUT would it be nice if it had all the rest of the crap like Atomic timekeeping, chrono stopwatch, multi alarm, timer, world time, waterproof, etc, etc..
Oh and I never want to buy a battery for this watch.. ever… so make it Solar Powered to boot… yeah.. I’d buy a watch like that… So they made one…. finally one with all those features.
Casio has made multi sensor watches for some time, but always missing Atomic time sync (multi band worldwide) OR it was not solar powered, or (fill in the blank). Well this watch (and some others in the pathfinder series) finally DOES give it “all” to you and at a nice price.
So what does that mean ? All this in a solar powered watch ? Well it finally means you are using the countdown timer and alarms ALL THE TIME and using the glow light display like a flashlight, basically using all the features of the watch without caring that you are running down the battery.. because its SOLAR powered !
This is a BIG reason why I also like the Citizen Eco-Drive watches.. I can use and abuse them, and never worry about changing out a battery or the watch losing time.
If you are into sports, racing, weather tracking, navigation, backpacking, etc.. I don’t need to explain to you WHY you need (or want) a watch like this. You already know. Or maybe you are just damn geek and need this.. haha Either way, I knew I had to have one.
This watch is HUGE (which is great because the display is large), but it still fits. Check out the booklet that comes with the watch !
I wanted the resin band version of this watch because I wanted it as light as possible (the watch is VERY lightweight) and didn’t want to have to deal with a metal bracelet in the field doing misc activities.
Casio has done a great job of packing some amazing advanced features into the watch like recording / tracking with playback, pressure graphs, altimeter graphing / tracking / recording, and on and on… The way you access these features has also been implemented in a very simple manner. One button press for all the major features of the watch, simple display yet lots of information.
